Your employees are your greatest resource and investing in their professional training and development may be crucial to keeping them. I believe the saying goes “Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don’t want to.” Richard Branson
Staff who feel you are investing in their future feel more valued and are more likely to provide a return on your investment predominantly by remaining with your company which can only be a good thing as replacing staff is more costly than just their annual salary.
According to LinkedIn, “94% of employees would stay at a company longer if it invested in their career development”. CLICK HERE to read the full report on LinkedIn.
So training is essential. Repeatable, professional, documented training doubly so. Staff training other staff can be a cheap alternative, but it can come with its downfalls. Bad habits have a knack of being passed on.
How many times have you been working, following steps you’ve been shown by a colleague only to find out through proper training that there’s an easier more efficient way?
As a scenario… you’re a busy Scheduler dealing with a customer complaint! You know the best resolution is to promise attendance first thing in the morning, do you:
- Chase round your Gangs trying to ensure they visit this one particular site first. Panicking and hoping that it’s possible and that you won’t let a customer down.
Or
- Know you can re-order jobs on the scheduling screen to the order you want them to be attended knowing this is how they will show on the Gang’s PDA?
This obviously requires the Gangs to know (through training) to process their jobs on the PDA from top to bottom, and their Supervisors to know (yep, you got it, training) to ensure these processes are stuck to.
Every step on our system affects the next step your colleague must make. Do you end up directly at your goal or has someone pushed you off course?
From Planners to Streetworks to Schedulers to Logistics to Gangs to Supervisors to Management to Commercial we have training to ensure you end up at your goal.
